CcHUB’s Summer Of Code: Announcing The Class Of 2016!

Back by popular demand, and certainly back with a bigger bang than ever before, we’re excited to announce that registration for the 2016 Summer of Code has opened.

The Summer of Code is a 4 week, fun, interactive programme to introduce kids aged 5-18 years to computer programming. Our first Summer of Code ran in 2014, with just one class for kids aged 9-14 years. The following year, we had 3 classes, with kids from 5-18 years; and in 2016, we’ll be running in Lagos, Abuja, Oyo, Osun and Enugu!
At re:learn our focus is on using technology to identify smarter ways to help kids learn. One of the ways to do this is by teaching kids computer science and how to code. In recent times, there has been a global push for integrating Computer Science as a part of the national K-12 curriculum for kids, especially in countries such as Estonia, Finland, the U.K and the U.S. Teaching kids to code helps them grow from consumers of technology, to makers of technology. In a world that is increasingly becoming digital, learning not just how to use computers but how computers work is fast becoming a critical skill.

At the Summer of Code we create a blend of logical thinking and creativity. Each lesson is project based which transforms learning into an interactive, fun and more personalised experience for each individual. Kids don’t just learn new tools to express their creativity but also improve their problem solving and critical thinking abilities.

It doesn’t just end with technical skills, but a strong component of the programme focus on soft-skills in the area of project management (managing your project with resources available – time, etc), collaboration (working in teams), communication (sharing ideas with team members), presentation (demo day), and time management (working within the time available). To crown it all, the programme ends with a Demo Day, where kids get the opportunity to present their projects to family and friends.

We’re excited to be able to work with the partners below to bring the Summer of Code to a city near you. To register your kids, sign up to any of the locations below.
