MC Galaxy Has Reached Heights Perceived Unattainable

MC Galaxy is doing great after-all. If you thought the commercial success of Nek Unek in 2013 was solely because he featured hit maker, Davido on it, MC Galaxy proved you wrong with the release of Sekem which became a dance anthem.

Ever since then, MC Galaxy has remained relevant in the Nigerian music scene. This is the first time I am noticing a comedian successfully transition into music in this part of the world.
Klint Da Drunk did a great job with Mr Raw's (formerly known as Nigga Raw) Obodo Remix but that was it. He apparently even didn't want a transition as comedy would always be his first love.

Julius Agwu released some rib-cracking and commercially singles in his Okombo album released in 2000 but that was obviously not a transition from comedy to music and I believe it wasn't intended to be.

One comedian who has worked really hard to transition into music is Tunde Ednut. Despite some big moves here and there over the past years, it is safe to say he hasn't achieved his goal yet. Yes, he commands an appreciable level of recognition but his music hasn't really cut across.

It is no surprise that the aforementioned artistes have not really hit it big in the music industry as we live in a society where one is seen as just one thing. Once people label you in a specific manner, it is difficult to make them see you in another light.

I don't know the magic formula MC Galaxy has adopted in his transition from a stand-up comedian to a really successful musician. Nek-Unek video was released in 2013 and today, it commands over 14 million views on Youtube. That's even more views than the video which brought him to limelight; Iyanya's Kukere despite the latter being released a year earlier.

Once again, he teamed up with Patrick Elis to recreate magic with Sekem video in 2014 which featured cameo appearances from the likes of 2face Idibia, Basketmouth, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Emma Ugolee, and Terry Tha Rapman (now T.R). That video has about 5 million Youtube views currently.

2015 has been a year of consolidation for MC Galaxy. Komolop Cholop is a proof that he doesn't care what anyone thinks but is simply here to stay. Though not my favourite song, I can't deny the fact that he shot a great video for the song.

In between Komolop Cholop and his next single, the news of him working on a musical project with American producer and hip-hop artiste, Swiss Beatz went viral. They were later seen together in a studio somewhere in New York.

I was certain MC Galaxy meant more than business when I heard Go Gaga remix featuring Stonebwoy, Cynthia Morgan and DJ Jimmy Jatt. He went a notch higher in his career with that song. I hear his debut album, Breakthrough is also doing great as regards sales.

I don't know how he manages to pull these stunts but MC Galaxy has reached musical heights perceived unattainable for a musician in this part of the world.

It can only get better for MC Galaxy!
