My Grudge Against Seyi Shay

Seyi Shay is undoubtedly one of the finest singers in this part of the world. Ever since I listened to her hit songs, Loving Your Way and Irawo few years ago, I had the conviction that we have been blessed with another bright star.

Her talent has never been in doubt I believe. For those who have not been opportune to watch Seyi perform live, I can tell you that she is one hell of an energetic and brilliant performer.
She is not just beautiful but effortlessly oozes a lot of sex appeal. I have also watched a number of her interviews and I am convinced she handles the media really well.
In my opinion, she is a complete package and a very marketable brand. I am a huge fan of Seyi Shay but allow me to hold a little grudge against her.

When she released the hit song Murda in 2014, I felt that was the best we will ever get from Seyi but I was dead wrong. The song which features Patoranking and the super-talented Shaydee still gives me goosebumps till this day.

Crazy which featured Wizkid made a huge impact too especially after the release of the brilliant video directed by Meji Alabi.

2015 will be remembered as the year Seyi Shay made Nigerian music lovers proud by releasing that super-romantic and brilliant love song which should ordinarily get Rihanna jealous.

Right Now is a classic and the video was just super-perfect. Kudos to Meji Alabi once again. I love Right Now and I know you do too.

Aside 2face's African Queen, it is difficult to pick another love song by a Nigerian which has had a more powerful romantic effect on me than Right Now.

I was extremely disappointed when few months later, the remix of Right Now featuring Banky W and Iyanya was released and there lies the grudge I hold against the 29-year-old.

Oh!great choice of artistes and lovely song still but why tamper with a classic so soon? Why not make us beg for a remix? Why drop that remix when we were still feeling the song itself?

It is my opinion that there are some classics you don't tamper with but if you must, it should come at least a year later. Not Now Please! Right Now remix came just too soon.

Grudge or no grudge, Seyi Shay remains a legend in the making :)

Meanwhile, thanks to Sound Sultan for convincing this angel to relocate to Nigeria.
