The Jagaban's Triumphant Entry: YCEE Was Born Ready

Sometimes I just choose to believe that Nigeria has the greatest number of upcoming music artistes in the world and my reasons are not far-fetched.

The last concert I attended was billed to kick off by 6:00pm but as most Nigerian events it kicked off about two hours later. So many relatively unknown artistes got on stage to perform their songs which they all believe will 'blow' someday soon.
I saw almost a score of young upcoming artistes come on stage to perform. Some of them were obviously forcing themselves to become music artistes while others were purely super talented. I left the concert venue at about 12:00 midnight and the budding artistes were still coming on stage to sell their market. Not even the least artiste among the headliners I came to watch had performed by the time left.

I just told you that short story to make you understand how difficult it is for a young artiste to make a mark in the murky waters of Nigeria's music industry. Every young artiste who has come to limelight has a story to tell as regards his struggles and pains and I am certain that YCEE's case is no different.

YCEE
I first got to hear of YCEE through his Condo single which featured dancehall singer, Patoranking. Though not the biggest fan of that single, the video made me come to the conclusion that the young dreadlocked artiste was definitely way more confident about his craft than his peers. He sounded really unique. Deep within, I felt a new star had been born.

Any doubts I had about YCEE were all laid to rest when I watched him perform live on stage. Mehn, the Tinny Entertainment artiste is pure fire on stage; he lit up every breadth of the stage that night that you would think he has been performing for decades. I feel  deeply in love with the second song I heard from YCEE which is titled Jagaban. I honestly feel the producer of that single, DWill is a genius for that brilliantly laced beat. YCEE got pretty videos to his credit too.

I have no doubts whatsoever that the likes of YCEE, Tekno and Kiss Daniel will in a few years own the industry if they can stay humble and put in more smart work.

What do you think of YCEE?
